What is Thai Yoga Massage?
Thai Yoga Massage is a healing massage that nourishes tight, achy muscles as it soothes and relaxes the body and mind. This 2500 year old sacred healing art combines assisted yoga postures with deep massage to produce a profound feeling of wellness, vitality, and openness. Rooted in Buddhism, Yoga, and Ayurveda, Thai Yoga Massage is practiced on a mat on the floor and combines gentle stretching with shiatsu and massage. The therapist guides the client through a series of stretches while palming and thumbing along the body's energy (Sen) lines and pressures points with hands-on techniques of rhythmic pressure and deep tissue massage focusing on parts of the body where muscles are tight or knotted. This assisted yoga creates a physical sense of lengthening and broadening in the body, a clear meditative mind state, and is meant to reduce stress, improve energy flow, blood circulation, flexibility, digestion, and posture.
Typical Thai Yoga Massage sessions are 90 minutes. No creams or oils will be used in your session. Please come dressed in comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement and refrain from eating an hour prior to your session.
